This is the month!

My mind was completely blown when I recently looked at the editing history from the first draft of my novel My Invisible Father. The first time I started typing was Saturday, May 30th, 2015, at 7:18 pm. I had just had back surgery the week prior. Now, six years and two weeks later, that book will have come to fruition. The official release date is Tuesday, June 15th, 2021. And a lot has happened in the past six years.

Since that 2015 date, I have moved to teach in a new school district. My wife and I bought our first home together. My oldest child graduated from college, got a job, and has taken part in a body-building contest. My second oldest, who turned 19 on that May 30th date (still a teenager), just turned 25 this past May 30th. My oldest daughter has since graduated from high school and college, and my youngest daughter was just nine at the time; now, she’s trying to get her driver’s license this summer.

Yeah, it’s been a long haul, but it seemed like it came in a flash when I look back at what has happened over the past six years. Time is precious, and I will no longer waste any of it. I will take this six-year lesson and always take advantage of every second of my life. Even when resting, I will make sure I am resting and put just as much effort into resting as I do in working. The more I can relax and rejuvenate, the better I’ll be for my family, health, and career(s). I want to see many more milestones from my children. I want to continue to mentor students. I want to write more books.

There’s a lot more I want in life, but more than anything, I want to fulfill every God-given mission that I believe I am to complete before I leave this earth. I’ve done a lot in my fifty-one years, and everything I’ve done was purposeful and has helped me do what I’m doing now. And starting and completing this book showed me I can do all things that God has in store for me in the future.

As my closest friend recently told me, “the completion is the beginning.”
